In July 2017, Jepsy Amaga Kallungi was living in the Philippines but decided to move to Colorado Springs for love. She wanted to marry her boyfriend, 36-year-old Dane Kallungi. The two had originally met online but their relationship was seen as "toxic" by Jepsy's close friend Rhanae Ramos.
Even though Jepsy's mother Margie Amaga lived in Hong Kong, the two remained in close contact and spoke almost three times a week via Facebook Messenger.
March 20, 2019, would be the last time Margie would hear from Jepsy. Rhanae also received a message from Jepsy that day saying, "you're a real person." Rhanae then asked her if she was ok but never heard back from her.
After this message, Rhanae reached out to Dane who told her she had left Colorado to go visit friends in either Chicago or the Philippines. This prompted Rhanae to call the Colorado Springs Police Department on April 4, to ask them to conduct a welfare check. Police failed to make contact with Jepsy and opened a missing persons case.
Margie had also tried to contact Dane but he replied by telling her the same thing, that the last time he saw her he believed she was going to the Philippines or Chicago to visit friends. Police have stated that there was talk of them getting divorced, but that they were still together during the time of her disappearance. Dane moved to San Diego, California shortly after Jepsy went missing.
The Colorado Springs Homicide/Assault Unit has taken over this case, and detectives are currently investigating this disappearance.
